NUCLEAR MEDICINE
Nuclear medicine is a branch of medicine in which radioactive materials are used in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. For diagnostic purposes, radioactive substances or some special chemical compounds prepared with it are given to the body by injection, digestion or respiration, and physiological images of the relevant organ and system are obtained. Imaging is performed with special devices called, depending on the type of radiation emitted by the radioactive material used, gamma camera or PET, and in this way the functions of many organs and systems are evaluated. Nuclear medicine is a reliable, painless imaging method that can predict some diseases compared to many other methods.
